It's a Marketing Thing... and I'm a Marketing Professional
Updated: Jan 14, 2022
I have spent my entire adult life working in some form in the marketing field. It is what I know, it is engrained in who I am, and it is truly what I love to do. I see it everywhere, I can't turn it off.
I kind of fell into marketing, really, when I was around 18 years old. I had recently graduated high school, had started college - but then dropped out because I just didn't know what I was doing in life - and working at a pluming shop doing the bookkeeping. One day the manager of the plumbing shop announced that he was leaving for a different career which opened his position up and I jumped to take it on.
After getting the promotion I quickly learned how poorly the retail end of the business was doing and that there was very serious consideration to close the retail and focus on service. Being someone that enjoys a challenge, and has faith in retail I immersed myself in the world of marketing - and it just clicked. From product placement, to pricing structure and traffic flow, from audience targeting and segmentation to message and word choice, I had found my talent, and my calling.
I was able to turn the retail sales around, increasing gross dollars by over 300% in eight months. Little did I know that this was just the beginning of what would become a beautiful and exciting career that would span over a global recession and a global pandemic which would both drastically affect and change the economy and the market in general.
I did go back to school and receive my Bachelors of Science in Business Marketing, and an MBA with an emphasis in Marketing and I have spend countless hours researching industries including gaming, home improvement, healthcare, and food and beverage. My personal marketing experience includes database and segmentation marketing, content and copy writing, social ad building and management, google ad building and management, strategy planning, research and development. I have done light web design, SEO, and graphic design with Adobe Photoshop. But my passion, my greatest abilities, come to play when consulting or planning around hardships, struggling systems, and challenging situations.
A business can only do as well as the knowledge that the leaders have and the execution they implement based on that knowledge. I come in to help that process, after conducting discovery, I can help to educate, plan, and execute in order to turn the ship and sail for sunnier weather. Change is hard, but it is an inevitable prerequisite to success and survival in today's market.
